Tunisia vs Japan World Cup 2026: how Japan ran riot

Japan struck early and never let go. Daichi Kamada finished inside four minutes, Japan’s quickest goal at a World Cup, and Ayase Ueda doubled the lead on the half-hour. Junya Ito made it three on 69 minutes before Ueda rounded off his brace on 83, completing a 4-0 rout that ended Tunisia’s tournament.

It was a landmark night for Asian football. Japan became the first AFC nation to score four goals in a single World Cup match, controlling the game from front to back against a Tunisia side that had no answer once Kamada set the tone. Hajime Moriyasu’s attack looked sharp, direct and ruthless in equal measure.
