Switzerland vs Bosnia: Manzambi Double Sinks Bosnia in a 4-1 Romp

Updated 18 June 2026.

Switzerland vs Bosnia at World Cup 2026 finished 4-1 to Switzerland, with substitute Johan Manzambi scoring twice in a frantic finale to blow Group B wide open at SoFi Stadium. Rubén Vargas and a stoppage-time Granit Xhaka penalty completed the rout, and Bosnia’s task was made harder by Tarik Muharemović’s 80th-minute red card, with Ermin Mahmić’s late strike no more than a consolation.

How Switzerland turned a tight game into a rout

For 70 minutes this was the grind everyone expected from Group B’s two most evenly matched sides. Then Switzerland found a gear Bosnia could not live with. Johan Manzambi, on from the bench, broke the deadlock on 74 minutes, and the game tilted decisively when Tarik Muharemović was sent off on 80 to leave Bosnia a man light.

From there it became a procession. Rubén Vargas made it 2-0 on 84 minutes, Manzambi grabbed his second on 90, and Granit Xhaka rolled in a penalty deep into stoppage time for 4-0. Ermin Mahmić’s strike at 90+3 briefly made the scoreboard read 3-1 before Xhaka’s spot-kick restored the four-goal cushion. A goal difference that looked irrelevant at 0-0 may yet decide who goes through.
